Notley V Hedingham Rounders

Notley High School

Thursday 19 May 2016  - NHS Year 7 Rounders squad v Hedingham
After several weeks of practise a squad of 15 year 7s were selected to represent Notley in a friendly game preparing for the district tournament after half term.
The match was a chance to get real competitive experience before the district tournament and a way of selecting the best 11 students for the tournament. A very excited groups of girls started the game which hindered our performance with lots of  silly errors in the first innings. After the first innings Hedingham were winning by 4 rounders. After a quick team talk to refocus the girls identifying a few common errors as well as some substitutions made a massive difference. It looked like a completely different team were playing, executing tactics a lot better and demonstrating a better understanding of where they needed to throw the ball. Unfortunately Notley had to accept defeat but it was a massive learning curve giving us invaluable experience needed for the district tournament. The girls drew the second innings 2 ½ rounders each and I am very pleased with the way they took on board feedback and executed it perfectly showing amazing progress.
Player of the match goes to Ellie Crowe after her excellent bowling in the second innings.
The final year 7 rounders team was selected on Tuesday 24 May.
